Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden

On behalf of Stirling Properties, we would like to congratulate Roger Ogden for receiving the prestigious Times-Picayune Loving Cup. He is truly worthy of such an esteemed award that serves to honor his lifelong service to our community.

As one of the founders of our company, along with Jimmy Maurin (pictured above), Roger has helped to shape this community and transform the commercial real estate industry—and we are grateful for all that he has done. His passion, vision, and leadership have significantly contributed to the success of our city, state, and the entire region.

As impressive as his extensive business credentials are, even more impressive is what he has accomplished through his commitment and generosity to the myriad of civic, cultural, and philanthropic causes in our area.

“I have had the distinct privilege of working with Roger for many years. I have also shared the opportunity to work with him on several boards and projects throughout the region. I know well the tireless commitment he gives to each and the passion he brings to the table. I also know he is driven to make the world around him a better place through his efforts,” said Marty Mayer, President & CEO of Stirling Properties.

Roger is a remarkable individual and he has definitely earned his place among such an extraordinary list of people who have made a lasting impact on us all.

Congratulations, Roger, on this well-deserved honor!

Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden, Founders of Stirling Properties, Give Back to LSU

Five Louisiana State Univeristy (LSU) business students – David Harms, Raju Marasani, Sawyer Chauvin, Saban Sellers, and James Guinn – received the 2015 ICSC Foundation Maurin Ogden LSU Scholarship Award. Funded by Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden, founders of Stirling Properties, this annual scholarship is awarded to a select handful of EJ Ourso College of Business students with an interest in Commercial Real Estate. The award provides an all-expense-paid attendance to the ICSC RECon Convention in Las Vegas.

2015 ICSC Foundation Gala

David Harms, one of the award recipients, delivered the opening remarks as part of the ICSC Foundation Gala held on May 17th at the Wynn Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

More specifically, this scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in Finance 7720, Commercial Real Estate Investing, at LSU. This course is offered in both Spring and Fall semesters at LSU and taught by adjunct instructor Justin Landry of Stirling Properties. Each year Stirling Properties chaperones the five LSU Award Recipients to the convention, offering the students valuable exposure to industry leaders and potential employers at the convention.

“We’ve had tremendous success over the past two years with this scholarship award, in fact a handful of students have received jobs as a result of attending the convention,” said Justin Landry, Asset/Finance Manager for Stirling Properties. “None of this would be possible without the generosity of Stirling’s original founders, Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden who fund the scholarship yearly. There are no two people more committed to LSU, real estate and education.”

President’s Message: Celebrating 40 Years

President's Message

As we begin 2015, I am excited to announce that Stirling Properties will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of its founding.  As I reflect on this significant milestone, I take pride in all we have overcome and accomplished and I am thankful for all of our dedicated team throughout the years that led us to this point.

In 1975 (before some of our current employees were even born), Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden started a real estate company focused on developing shopping centers.  The following year, Chip Songy joined them.  It was their vision and spirit of entrepreneurship that established such a solid foundation from which we have built the Stirling Properties of today – a full-service commercial real estate company focused on the Gulf South.  It is their legacy that we carry forward and continue to grow.  To them, we will always be grateful.

While so much has changed in the world, in our markets, and in our company over the years, the culture and values at Stirling Properties remain firmly rooted in integrity, professionalism, teamwork and commitment to our industry and the communities we serve.  Through ups and downs in the market, hurricane recovery and economic uncertainty, putting our clients first continues to be our top priority.  As we grow, these values will always guide us.

And none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of the Stirling Team.  It is because of the Stirling Team that we are able to accomplish so much each and every year and I am thrilled Stirling Properties has such an incredible group of professionals.  As we embark on our 40th year, I look forward to a year full of progress and success, built upon the foundation developed over the last 40 years.

Jimmy Maurin and Roger Ogden, founders of Stirling Properties, have both always believed strongly in mentoring students interested in pursuing careers in real estate.  This year, Jimmy and Roger started the 2014 Maurin Ogden LSU Real Estate Award, putting funds in a foundation with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) that will be used exclusively to better the real estate program at Louisiana State University (LSU).

Six LSU students – Braden Eddy, John Woodard, Jeremy Lapeyrouse, Brian Brumfield, Kaylan Kuehler and Garrett Mickal – were selected as the award’s inaugural recipients.  The award covered their airfare, hotel and convention costs to attend the 2014 ICSC RECon in Las Vegas.  At the convention, the students had numerous meetings with industry leaders, participated in business meetings at Stirling Properties’ booth, and networked with potential employers.

Justin Landry, Stirling’s Asset/Finance Manager, chaperoned the students on the trip.  Justin teaches Finance 3900 (Commercial Real Estate Valuation) at LSU and all six of the students have taken his course.

Stirling Properties was happy to host the students in our booth and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.
