Demolition Underway at Hammond Square
Making way for exciting new developments for the retail center.

Stirling Properties commercial real estate company announced that demolition is underway at Hammond Square shopping center in Hammond, Louisiana, to make way for an estimated $15 million redevelopment project, and the addition of 4-5 new tenants and restaurants.
The recent store closures of Sears and Rite Aid at Hammond Square presented an opportunity to refresh the development and replace these stores with roughly 90,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant space, which will be complementary to the existing tenant mix and attractive to customers. Both buildings will be demolished and the newly constructed buildings will be reconfigured to face either I-12 or Hwy. 51.
Demolition work commenced in early March and construction on the new space will begin immediately after. The redevelopment is expected to be complete in early 2020. Stirling Properties’ leasing team is currently in conversations with several regional and national retail tenants and restaurants that are interested in the redevelopment.
Also new to Hammond Square, Old Navy is still on track to open this spring. Buildout and expansion of the store are currently underway, and the company has begun hiring employment. Old Navy will occupy 12,500 square feet of space on Palace Drive between Zales and Shoe Dept. Encore.

Hammond Square is Tangipahoa Parish’s premier shopping destination, located on approximately 100 acres at the northwest corner of Interstate 12 and US Highway 51 Business (SW Railroad Avenue) in Hammond, Louisiana. It is the 2nd largest open-air center in Louisiana encompassing over 902,000-square-feet of more than 40 national and local retailers, shops and restaurants, including Dillard’s, Target, The Home Depot, JCPenney, Academy Sports+Outdoors and AMC Theatres. Stirling Properties redeveloped Hammond Square and currently manages and leases the center.

Come Celebrate Christmas at the Square!
Tis’ the season to celebrate! Join us at Hammond Square for the 6th Annual Christmas at the Square celebration in Hammond, Louisiana, on Saturday, December 8th from 10am-12pm. This FREE event is open to the public and a holly jolly time for all ages!
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance to help spread the holiday cheer. The celebration will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, a caricature artist, a live radio remote with Cajun 107.1 and more.
During the event, Hammond Square will also be collecting personal care items for Our Friends Closet, a community based nonprofit organization that provides hygiene and personal care products to low income, homeless and unaccompanied students in need. Please help us make the holidays special for middle and high school students in Tangipahoa Parish by donating items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, feminine products, laundry pods, face wipes, socks and more.
