Louisiana’s Metros and Cities Recognized Nationally

  2. NOLA #8 in USA for Job Growth in Medium Metros – Headlamp, an economic development consultancy, conducted an analysis of employment trends from June to September 2011 to identify the US metros that experienced the highest job growth rates. 43% of all metros actually experienced job losses. New Orleans metro, however, had the 8th highest rate of job growth (5.0% annualized growth) amongst all medium-size metros in the country and has experienced positive overall growth since December 2007 when the recession started. Also ranking in the Top 10-25% of medium metros, Baton Rouge ranked #21. Ranking among the Top 10% of small metros, Lafayette (#16) and Houma (#21) saw annualized growth of 11.5% and 10.6% respectively. Shreveport-Bossier City had annualized growth of 3.8%.
