HAMMOND, Louisiana —- (OCTOBER 26, 2010) Hammond Square, Stirling Properties’ power lifestyle center located in Hammond, Louisiana, was selected as a finalist for The International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) 2010 United States Design and Development Awards. These awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and development of retail properties and retail store design within the U.S. and are given for the following categories: Renovation or Expansion of an Existing Project, Innovative Design and Development of a New Project, and Retail Store Design.
Hammond Square is a finalist for best renovation or expansion of an existing project for retail space over 500,000 sq. ft. and is among seven other finalists from developments in Washington, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, and Pennsylvania. These eight finalists were judged by a jury of leading industry experts who awarded points for improvement of existing space, methods of keeping the project open during construction, new marketing and re-letting/re-merchandising approaches, refinancing techniques, innovative design and construction approaches, and adaptive reuses of the structure.
All entries receive up to a maximum cumulative score of 100 points but only the top 50% are considered finalists. The top performers in each category will be announced at ICSC’s CenterBuild Conference on December 2, 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona where they will receive the prestigious Gold or Silver awards.
“To be a finalist for the 2010 U.S. Design and Development Award is a tremendous honor for Hammond Square and Stirling Properties. It is a testament to the commitment made to Hammond by the owners of Hammond Square and to the development team who worked over three years on this project,” said Grady Brame, Executive Vice President and Partner of Stirling Properties. “The recognition helps put Hammond in the national spotlight and we are optimistic about the opportunities this type of news will bring not only for the current tenants, but for those retailers interested in Hammond Square.”
