Following Hurricane Katrina, the redevelopment was lauded as one of the most important private projects in the city’s recovery.

With a $31 million investment and a bold vision, Stirling transformed the site into a flagship, Winn-Dixie-anchored urban shopping center that helped breathe new life into Mid-City.

Today, Mid-City Market is home to Office Depot, Verizon Wireless, Jefferson Feed, Panera Bread, Felipe’s Taqueria, and more—a true testament to the power of adaptive reuse and community-focused development.

Designed by the renowned firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 1980, this 600,000-square-foot landmark is a testament to modernist design and urban prominence.

In 2006, we acquired Hammond Square Mall with a bold vision to reimagine it—and it became the largest redevelopment in our company’s history at the time.
