Shreveport Market Minute
Shreveport-Bossier is rapidly emerging as a major tech and data center hub. Local leadership is hoping to diversify from traditional gaming and manufacturing into more digital and tech sectors.
The cities are set to experience a major economic turning point over the next few years due to an $18 billion multi-parish investment by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and industrial infrastructure provided by SLB (formerly Schlumberger). The state-of-the-art data infrastructure will be the largest single capital investment in the region’s history. The AWS campuses will be located in unincorporated Caddo Parish, unincorporated Bossier Parish, and the Resilient Technology Park in west Shreveport. These are in addition to the current Amazon Fulfillment Center which opened in late 2024 and employs around 2,500 workers. The campuses are projected to create close to 750 jobs with the first site in west Shreveport to open in mid-2028. Part of this funding will go towards water infrastructure improvements, while SWEPCO plans to ensure power grid capacity without raising local utility rates. SLB occupies a large portion of the 3.5 million square foot campus of the former GM Plant which is now Shreveport Business Park.
G-Unit Film and Television Studios is another major project slated for the area. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has committed to investing in a major production and entertainment hub anchoring a $124 million multi-phase development in downtown Shreveport. The project is backed in part by a $50 million state-approved infrastructure investment to include a dome-style immersive venue and green space park. The hub is projected to generate thousands of local jobs and includes development partnerships with major platforms such as Fox Entertainment. The project is expected to begin in late 2026 to spring of 2027.
Another significant project benefitting the area is Frymaster’s $11.5 million dollar expansion. The food service equipment manufacturer is expanding its operations, creating close to 50 new jobs on top of the current 511 jobs. The expansion will be complete by late 2026.
These projects and the infrastructure planned along with them will be a huge boost for the Shreveport-Bossier economy for future years and will likely change the trajectory of the region for years to come.
