Mid-City Market
As we celebrate 50 years of Stirling, we’re looking back at one of our most transformative projects: Mid-City Market in New Orleans, which broke ground in 2012.
Located at North Carrollton Avenue and Bienville Street, the 6.5-acre site was once an abandoned car dealership—one of the last blighted properties in the vibrant Carrollton Avenue corridor. Following Hurricane Katrina, the redevelopment was lauded as one of the most important private projects in the city’s recovery.
With a $31 million investment and a bold vision, Stirling transformed the site into a flagship, Winn-Dixie-anchored urban shopping center that helped breathe new life into Mid-City.
Today, Mid-City Market is home to Office Depot, Verizon Wireless, Jefferson Feed, Panera Bread, Felipe’s Taqueria, and more—a true testament to the power of adaptive reuse and community-focused development.
